<p><strong>If you're a junior developer:</strong> The traditional career ladder is broken. You can't count on grinding through junior years to become senior. You need to specialize hard and fast, or learn to be exceptional at directing AI coding assistants.</p>

<p><strong>If you're in customer support:</strong> Technical support is going away fastest. Your path forward is either highly specialized technical knowledge that AI can't replicate yet, or moving into AI training/operations for support systems.</p>

<h2>The Skills That Actually Matter Now</h2>

<p>Companies hiring in 2026 want people who can:</p>

<p><strong>Work with AI as a multiplier:</strong> They're not hiring people to do what AI does. They're hiring people who can direct AI to do 10x what they could do alone. Salesforce's recent job posting literally said "must demonstrate ability to 5x output using AI tools."</p>

<p><strong>Adapt at AI speed:</strong> The hiring managers I've talked to say the same thing: "We need people who can learn new AI tools in days, not months." The pace of change isn't slowing down.</p>

<h2>The Companies to Watch (And Avoid)</h2>

<p>Some companies are handling this transition better than others.</p>
